Starting 2026 strong in Bean
18 February 2026
From Bean Community enewsletter, 18 February
Through the start of 2026, the Albanese Labor Government has been getting on with the job of governing for all Australians. Our priorities remain: strengthening medicare and increasing funding for health care, easing cost of living pressures and helping Australians to earn more and keep more of what they earn.
We are strengthening Medicare, providing more bulk-billing appointments, making medicines cheaper, opening Urgent Care Clinics - including in Woden, delivering 1800Medicare and properly funding public hospitals.
We are properly funding every public school in Bean and providing more free TAFE places.
We are making it easier for Australians to get into their own home and putting downward pressure on rents, through the Help to Buy Scheme and the Build to Rent Program. Through the 5 per cent Home Deposit Scheme new home buyers are getting the keys to their first home.
It is such a privilege to be your Member for Bean and to represent the interests of the people of South Canberra and Norfolk Island. I have hit the ground running in 2026 to provide Bean residents with the services and supports you deserve. I’ll keep working hard to deliver for our community.
