Media Release

Member for Bean David Smith today opened new facilities at St Anthony’s Parish School which will improve student educational outcomes.

Mr Smith said work on the development project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $1 million through the Capital Grants Program.

“A lot of work has gone into this project which has delivered six classrooms, two breakout space, two withdrawal spaces, a staff room, two covered outdoor learning areas and amenities,” Mr Smith said.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at St Anthony’s Parish School with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in St Anthony’s Parish School, Wanniassa, get the best possible education.”

Mr Smith said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at St Anthony’s Parish School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at St Anthony’s Parish School have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Mr Smith said.

“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”
