It is easy to #GOLOCALFIRST and buy local when you live in Canberra

Throughout the past two years of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Canberra small businesses have done it tough. With COVID restrictions having eased and in the lead up to Christmas, it is great to see Canberrans supporting our recovering small businesses by choosing and buying local.

We have dedicated small business owners who are proud Canberrans and wear being Ken Behrans as a badge of honour. They are not just business owners, they are representatives of the Canberra community.

With everyone out and about choosing Christmas gifts and buying produce for Christmas dinner, I would just encourage people to choose Canberra made products and Canberra and Australian made produce.

The Canberra region makes unique, first class fresh produce and our wine region is amongst the best in the country. We have new beer and spirit makers who are now national and international award winners.

Canberra has a plethora of cafes and restaurants, some that have been with us for decades and others that are the product of the innovative: new and cool bar owners and publicans, baristas, cafe owners and chefs and restaurateurs.

We are spoiled for choice in our wonderful city. Please support our small businesses by buying Canberra products and produce and make this holiday season a bumper one for our local businesses.

You can follow the campaign on the #GoLocalFirst Facebook page or the GoLocalFirst website.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays and most importantly stay safe and well.

David

PS. GO LOCAL FIRST is running a competition “Australia’s Local #boastcode” to help celebrate our local small businesses and maybe win a great prize too. So make sure you enter your fav.

Enter as many times as you like, but individuals can only enter each small business once. Every entry adds up to your postcode’s tally to become Australia’s Local #boastcode.

Australia’s Local #boastcode rolls out nationally in January. To enter, just head to a local small business, snap a photo of whatever you’re purchasing and scan the QR code to upload it to the GO LOCAL FIRST website. Then you’re into the draw to win!
