The key focus for the Australian Government has been providing lasting cost of living help to all Australians. From tomorrow we are delivering:

  • Another tax cut: All workers will receive a tax cut. For over 14 million Australians, that will be another tax cut of up to $268.
  • Minimum and Award Wage increase: Workers on the National Minimum Wage will receive a pay rise of 6 per cent. For the first time workers on the minimum wage will earn over $1,000 a week. Workers on Awards will receive a pay rise of 4.75 per cent.
  • Payday Superannuation: Workers must be paid their super at the same time as their pay. Super contributions need to reach funds within seven business days. This will make it easier for workers to track their super balances, reduce unpaid super and could potentially mean a worker could be up to $6,000 better off in retirement.
  • Paid Parental Leave expanded: Government funded Paid Parental Leave will increase by 10 days to 26 weeks (6 months) at the minimum wage of $1,000 a week.
  • Fuel price relief extension: The Government is continuing the cut to the fuel excise for another month, cutting the excise by 16 cents per litre for petrol and diesel.
  • Centrelink payment threshold increases: Some Centrelink payment rates, thresholds and limits will increase, including for those receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A and B and the Age Pension and Disability Support Pension.
  • Grocery price crackdown: New ACCC enforced laws targeting price gouging by major supermarkets prohibiting charging a price for a grocery product that is ruled excessive compared to the cost of supply, plus a reasonable margin.
  • Instant asset write-off for small businesses extended: For small businesses (with a turnover of less than $10 million), an instant write-off for assets costing less than $20,000 will be extended permanently.
