Census 2026

11 August 2026

From David Smith MP - July/August eNews

Every five years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics counts every person and household in Australia. This is called the Census of Population and Housing.

Tuesday 11 August is Census night. By now you should have received your Census information pack in the mail.

In the Census, every answer matters to help us understand what Australia needs now and into the future. Remember the Census is compulsory.

Census data is used to inform decisions about transport, schools, health care, infrastructure and business. It also helps plan local services for individuals, families and communities.
