Firstly, congratulations again to the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese and the Labor Government. This was a critical election for our community, and I am proud to see the people of Bean and Australia have elected a government that values public service and will tackle the issues facing our nation with a positive plan.

Congratulations to other members of the ACT Labor team, Katy, Andrew and Alicia should be all proud of the results. I know we will all work together to keep delivering for our region. I very much look forward to Parliaments’ return and continuing to be part of the Labor Caucus.

I would like to acknowledge the other candidates who stood for election in Bean - David Lamerton, Jessie Price and Sam Carter. Standing for election is a trying and difficult thing, not just for the candidates but also for their families. I acknowledge that each participant in this election has come to this contest with good intentions.

Being the Member for Bean, representing our community in the Federal Parliament, has been a great honour. Whether it be working directly with a member of the community on their individual issue through to rebuilding the public service, delivering improvements in health, education and major infrastructure has been very rewarding. I now look forward to that work continuing.

I am pleased that I received the largest share of the primary vote at 41%, similar to the 2022 election, and I thank the people of Bean for their ongoing support. I acknowledge the closeness of this result, and commit to working hard for all the people of Bean, and delivering our positive plan.

I would like to sincerely thank all my supporters. Those that worked on the booths, put up signs, doorknocked with me, and convinced as many as they could to vote Labor. Thank you to my office for all their hard work.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my family for another election battle. As they say, politicians volunteer but your family are conscripts, and I want to thank them for their rock-solid love and support.
